I’m not going to lie, your subject this week of Hygge was one of the more difficult photos I have had to take. If you had waited a couple of weeks for Marcelina to be in London, this would have been very easy, as she is pretty much the definition of hygge for me. Any shot of her cozied up on the sofa with a gin and tonic, or eating breakfast on the balcony watching the world go by, would both be an excellent photo and meet all the criteria of the topic.

Whoops, super sorry this is late! I love to do these adventures on a Saturday when Ed is off work, so we can scope out the city together and then Sunday always seems like such a quick turn around. Despite the husband’s frustration when I stop mid wander for a pic, this photography malarky is beginning to utterly absorb me. When I'm not off on an adventure, I'm ogling other people’s websites, seeking out new tips and tricks, and bugging Ed to be a subject (to no avail as of yet…).

It was a dark and dingy day and I had walked 70 blocks to get to the 34th street entrance of the High Line. Was I disappointed that it was a dingy day? Yes and no. No, because for the first time during the summer in NYC I hadn't been overheating in trousers, and yes, because the High Line is such a beautiful NYC spot that I wanted to show off as much as possible. But still, I gave it my best shot!

Since being in New York I have been exploring my photography and attempting to improve it in every way I can. I dabbled with photographing people with my post A portrait of a stranger in Central Park, however, one portrait shoot does not a photographer make, and I have been on the hunt for any opportunity to take pictures of real people (and apparently being newly married does not come with the perks of a captive model).
