last week, i was lucky enough to spend an afternoon frolicking all over one of my fave neighborhoods with Elishia from @y.a.hype, who just so happens to be a fab photographer! she turned out an AMAZING collection of pics of me and some of my favorite things — books, bridges, and so much Brooklyn magic. prepare yourself for plenty of them on my feed! 📷 . . with that in mind, it feels like the perfect moment to #meetthebookstagrammer! HI! i’m Alli, a full-time freelance writer and editor, lifelong book lover, and the host/producer behind The SSR Podcast. every week on the show, a guest joins me to take a 2019 (well, almost 2020, i guess!) look at a book they read when they were a teen or tween. it’s so much fun! ❤️ . . some other things — i live and work in Brooklyn, NY (duh, thanks to this pic!). i’m obsessed with my dog. i watch old episodes of #GBBO every night to fall asleep. oh, and i used to be a raging insomniac. i’m scared of large birds (embarrassing). my last meal would be an endless buffet of cheap Chinese takeout food. i’ve watched every episode of The Office at least six times. i’m really organized about everything except my @spotify playlists. my husband and i are taking a bucket list trip to Thailand — two weeks from today! 😬 . . your turn! say HEY and tell me something about you in the comments below! 👋👋👋👋

[ #partner ] I had the most fun this past week with the very talented @elishia.in.newyork taking pictures and talking books. I can’t wait to spend the next couple weeks showing you some of the amazing photos Elishia took- and surprise, Elishia is additionally incredibly generous and offering a 50% discount to my friends and followers for bookings made during the month of March. Interested? Shoot me or Elisha a DM for more details! . One book Elishia and I could not stop chatting about was of course Daisy Jones and The Six. I can easily say this was one of my most enjoyable reads this year so far. Written in an incredibly unique format, Daisy Jones is like VH1’s Behind the Music come to life... in a completely fictitious novel. There were moments that seemed a bit slow for me and fair warning now- you’ll easily find yourself falling in love while simultaneously hating most of the characters all at once. Definitely pick this gem up. 4.5 🌟s

staring down tomorrow’s 26-hour travel day back to NYC likeeee ⬆️ // seriously, though, as we wind down this trip — which was our Big, Exciting Thing for 2019 — i can’t help but do a little reflecting. it’s never easy to get back to reality after a fantastic adventure, but i’m trying to look at it with gratitude from all sides. 😍 . . THINGS I APPRECIATE MOST FROM THE LAST TWO WEEKS: ✨ • unhurried quality time, meaningful conversations, and countless belly laughs with Matt ✔️ • the chance to take in so many new sights and experiences with an open mind and a positive attitude ✔️ • a much-needed step back from work (for both of us!) and the opportunity to gain some perspective about the intensity of my usual schedule ✔️ • a forced pause in endless scrolling and watching and distractions, which created time for so much reading and other things! ✔️ • rest, rest, REST ✔️ • a healthy bronze glow (not to be underestimated in a New York winter!) ✔️ • lots of noodles and curries and spring rolls YUM ✔️ . . THINGS I’M CHOOSING TO APPRECIATE + FOCUS ON POST-VACATION: ✨ • reconnecting with family and friends and IRV (obvs) ✔️ • kicking off the holiday season in a BIG way, starting with some cozy seasonal reads and a @hallmarkchannel movie jet lag recovery marathon and Thanksgiving with family next week! ✔️ • getting to work on some new creative projects that i’ve come up with while traveling ✔️ • reestablishing some healthier boundaries around work and time ✔️ • simple comforts of home, like pouring a bowl of cereal or filling my water bottle from the tap or running to the pharmacy for cold meds (or fruit snacks tbh) ✔️ • getting back into a routine, because your girl loves a routine ✔️ . . thanks for following along on our trip! any thoughts on how to beat jet lag on the way home/how to get back into the groove of things are much appreciated. 😘✈️ . . 📷: @elishia.in.newyork | @y.a.hype

Meet the bookstagrammer Monday! (also- thanks @fsgbooks for this free book!) . Hi, book friends! I’m Meghan and you can find me living, reading, adulting, and studying in NYC. Originally from PA I moved to NYC almost 3 years ago and brought a long my love of reading and book hoarding with me. I enjoy long strolls through Central Park, dad jokes, kitten paws, and copious amounts of coffee. Wine, chocolate, and french fries are the keys to my heart. I’m a social work student just over a month away from graduating with my MSW, and hopefully soon enough I’ll be turning an internship in adult psychiatry into a full time job? fingers crossed . I’m currently reading NEVER ENOUGH from @doubledaybooks & THE FAVORITE SISTER from @simonandschuster BUT this picture @elishia.in.newyork took of me holding THE PEACOCK FEAST from @fsgbooks is my favorite. 😍 Introduce yourself in the comments below and share with me what you’re currently reading?!

Dear London - The World on his shoulders

This week I practically ran out onto the streets of New York, camera in hand, ready to capture something amazing. New York was the hub of the US election over the last couple of weeks and I was so excited to be in the middle of it. On election night Ed and I wandered into midtown CLICK TO READ MORE

November’s Little Letters

novembers little letters.jpg

November brought NYC the first couple of really cold days and there is nothing I like more than to wrap up tight, dig my hands deep into my pockets and pull my scarf up to my nose whilst embracing the beauty of NYC at this time of year. November has been a great lead up to December CLICK TO READ MORE
